Green Common: Veggie Delight in HarbourCity

HarbourCity is one of the biggest shopping malls in Hong Kong, located in the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui. While the mall offers vegetarian options it’s only recently that Green Common opened its doors at Ocean Terminal providing delicious meals for plant-eaters.

If you’re into spicy noodles, these vegan pork slices topped with Thai sweet chilli and Tom Yum soup pho noodles are delicious. The soup is a bit on the salty side but overall it’s worth trying.

Close up of the vegan pork slices made of beancurd. Yum.

I visited Green Common on another occasion with my veggie friends, Carol and her husband. Here’s what we ordered:
The infamous vegetarian Hainan chicken rice made with turmeric rice. As a Singaporean eating vegetarian chicken rice growing up, this is a far cry from the original and for such a hefty price at over HK$120++ I thought it was quite ridiculous. However, Carol’s husband enjoyed the ‘chicken’ slices, which I believe half of them were from Gardenin. I still prefer the traditional ‘chicken’ made with chunky beancurd. My aunty says the secret to delicious Hainanese chicken lies in the chilli and of course the rice, this will need another post so I’ll move on.

I’m a big fan of Dan Dan noodles so have to order whenever I see it on the menu. This is not bad.

We ordered the Happy Ocean Crab Cake that comes with a side salad and corn. Good appetizer.

Vegan beef curry served with prata crisps and pineapple.

Green Common has updated its menu this year and with all the craze now on Beyond Meat, you’ll have to visit the shop to find out. I’ll give Green Common a high score for ambiance. As a vegetarian eatery, it’s got a really modern and chic feel plus you can stock up on more vegetarian goodies at the mini-shop.
