Ovo Cafe is part of Ovo Group that sells zen furniture and lifestyle products in Hong Kong. The group diversified to open a vegetarian cafe promoting green, healthy, and eco-lifestyle offering plant-based cuisine in Wanchai. Ovo is a cosy cafe that seats 25 with part of its space converted into a florist shop.
My lunch set included Chinese-style potato, carrot, and spinach leaves soup with a generous serving of black pepper. Simple and wholesome.
My lunch buddy for the day – Saffron happily snapping away. I like the philosophy that Secrets of Longevity card espoused: Keep a low-calorie diet, take fibre-rich fruits and vegetables, grow your own food if possible (not really when you’re in land-scarce Hong Kong but good try). Most importantly – Be Happy and Keep Smiling. That would do 🙂
After slurping our soup, we can’t wait to dive into our main course – tomato burdock spaghetti. Saffron graciously posed for a pic.
Close up: a fusion mix of chunky burdock slices, baby tomatoes, corn and tomato spaghetti. Beautifully presented and delicious. I was quite surprised you could use burdock in a western dish by pairing it with spaghetti. I’m used to eating it in Chinese cuisines.
The house drip coffee was strong but because they served it along with my main dish, it became cold quickly. I had to bring back and microwaved it. A matter of personal preference, next time I would request to be served after my meal – steaming hot and freshly brewed.
Saffron ordered this yummylicious chocolate banana cake. Good call and sooo good. Came with a pretty flower hand drawn with chocolate sauce.
You know you want to see it again before they disappeared into our tummies in minutes! Dessert is always a good idea. Nom nom nom.
When you arrive at Ovo cafe, queue for seats first. Once seats are allocated to you, go to the counter to order your food (I recommend the lunch sets), pay and wait for food to be served at your seats.
You might have less choice if you’re vegan but ask at the counter and I think they would be happy to accomodate.
