Bali’s Ubud is like the veggie mecca of Indonesia. Here recently for a 3 day raw food program, Kate and Becky brought me to a few eateries that offer delicious vegan/veggie and raw friendly food.
This entree contains jicama, daikon and carrot noodles, chopped cashews, coriander, thai basil, mint, sprouts and kaffir lime. Sauce is addictive!

Zuchinni-tahini chick-pea free live hummus served with jullienned veggies, flax crackers and olives. Very fresh veggie sticks but I find the hummus a little bland for my liking.
Another small dish, crust is made of sesame flax topped with cashew cheese, tomato, capers, olives, fresh oregano and basil. Tasty and would be better if it’s bigger portion.
A blend of seaweeds, shredded cabbage, daikon radish, jicama, cucumber, greens and sesame seeds in a tahini miso dressing crowned with carrot noodles. Rich dressing and good mix of crunchy veggies, love the seaweed.
I love chocolate but no idea this is chocolate in its original form. The coca seed has a sticky white but sweet skin. Once you bite into it, it’s actually purple in color and can be quite bitter. Apparently, you can get a cocoa rush/ ‘high’ if you eat a lot of it.
Because I’ve tried a better mud pie at Clear Cafe, this is ok. I find the top layer too creamy but the bottom layer of chocolate is delicious.
Pleasantly surprised to find durian ice cream in Bali. For a durian lover, this is just awesome.
Here’s other desserts I didn’t get to try…
Soma is a cozy little restaurant conveniently located in Ubud town and it has free wifi too – bonus!
